Nakedbus.com of New Zealand had a vision to create a new low-cost bus service linking the main towns and cities of New Zealand. Using existing operators to provide transportation services, the nakedbus.com business model is to use the power of the Internet to reach customers and to offer a low cost approach with a unique pricing model.

 

Naked Bus turned to iBooking due to our focus on online booking and ticketing and the proven results of our iBooking Ticket solution. A key component of the nakedbus solution is yield-based pricing which allows nakedbus.com to sell 10% of tickets on each service for as little as $1. A pricing matrix allows the system to progressively increase fares as demand increases.

 

Other key features includes the nakedrewards programme which allows customers to build up reward points for using the service as well as for recommending friends. If a friend signs up to the service as a result of a recommendation both parties receive reward points. Customers receive instant booking confirmations and can also opt to have their ticket sent by SMS, removing the need for paper ticketing.

 

With an easy-to-use front-end an an ever increasing volume of sales the nakedbus.com solution also requires smart functionality for system management. At pre-set intervals before departure, the system sends duty-sheets to each driver, giving them a report of all passengers due to join the service at each pickup point. Agents and Affiliates modules also allow nakedbus.com to reach new customers at low cost by rewarding third parties who refer customers.
 
 

Based on hugely successful British transport models like Easyjet, Nakedbus.com cuts the overhead costs from the ticketing process by providing internet only ticketing (www.nakedbus.com) and eliminating the need for ticketing agents.
