About House for an Art Lover
House for an Art Lover is one of Scotland's best known visitor
attractions. Designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh, the House caters to
both visitors and corporate customers looking for an interesting venue
for meetings and events.As well as a custom web site solution iBooking saw an opportunity to support the
marketing of the House using an e-commerce enabled web site and an
online ticketing solution.
Scope of Work/Requirements
The initial scope was to design and develop a comprehensive web presence for
House for an Art Lover that addressed different user groups. The aim was
to ensure that visitors could quickly and easily locate information of
interest and that the site could satisfy the demands of a very diverse
user group. iBooking were also tasked with providing a content management solution and offered a customised version of our iBooking™ CMS product for the purpose.
iBooking Ticket
The iBooking Ticketing solution was initially developed in conjunction
with Edinburgh Festival Theatres.
Early in the discussion with staff it became apparent that the development of a comprehensive online booking engine for theatres was going to be a complex issue. Not only was there a need to cope with multiple venues, but there were also complex business rules to be processed relating to theatres seating areas, timing of performances, concession tickets and ticket collection rules. Building all the requirements into a system specification, iBooking engineered an ASP [application service provider] model where a secure online ticketing system with complete flexibility could be delivered. Designed to be flexible enough for use by venues to include visitor attractions, cinemas, sports grounds and one-off events, iBooking™ Ticket was developed over an initial 8 week period.

The result of the project for
House for an Art Lover was an entirely redesigned web presence which improved the conversion ratio and led to an immediate increase in both enquiries,
online shop sales and event bookings. The new online ticketing feature
allows customers to securely purchase tickets for any number of
performances. The result was an improved level of bookings and a much
improved back office system. A detailed reports feature built into iBooking™ ticket allows staff to track customers, manage interest groups and view booking volumes based on a wide range of metrics including time periods, performances and seating areas.
